Alternatively, entrepreneurs may access Longitude Capital is through our network of existing portfolio companies, advisors, service providers (e.g., attorneys, consultants, auditors, etc.) and friends.
An executive summary of the business plan should articulate the following attributes that Longitude Capital looks for in prospective investments:
- Product description and unmet need served by the product
- Market size and competitive landscape
- Biographies of key members of management
- Summary of current intellectual property position
- Overview of the current reimbursement or pricing environment
- Projected technical, clinical and regulatory development path
- Financial projections
- Current capitalization
If we find the idea and opportunity appealing, then we will arrange an initial meeting or teleconference with the management team and seek additional information.
During the next phase of our evaluation, we will conduct more extensive due diligence on the market, technology, intellectual property, financial plans, returns and management. In this phase, we are pleased to provide entrepreneurs with referrals to both current and prior portfolio company executives who can share their experience working with us.
If Longitude Capital elects to invest in your company, we typically lead or co-lead the investment and join the board of directors. We are active investors and will assist management in achieving key value-creating corporate objectives. Such assistance often involves additional management recruiting, strategy development, introductions to leading service providers and consultants, and assistance with fundraising, corporate partnering and evaluations of alternative exit strategies.
