Longitude Capital invests in and collaborates with exceptional management teams who are leading innovative companies at all stages of development, from privately-held seed stage to publicly-traded later stage life sciences companies, with a bias towards earlier-stage medical device companies and more mature biotechnology companies.
We are active investors who work diligently with management teams to build outstanding companies by developing management depth, attracting capital, and leveraging the networks and resources necessary for rapid and efficient growth in today's complex life sciences industry. We consider each investment opportunity on its merits with a particular focus on the market potential for the company's product or technology. In terms of general company profile, we look for:
- Outstanding management teams (or the ability to build one)
- Large target markets
- Defensible and proprietary technology
- High probabilities of product safety and efficacy
- Defined reimbursement and commercial landscapes
- Well defined, capital efficient business plans with identifiable value drivers
- Clear expectations for exit valuations
Our culture is highly collaborative. We employ a team oriented process that is intended to result in superior investment selection as well as best-in-class post-investment support for portfolio companies. We have complementary backgrounds and industry experiences that benefit our portfolio companies through practical advice, business judgment and access to resources.
Longitude Capital seeks to invest $10 million to $30 million over the life of each portfolio company, but our initial investment can be much smaller, particularly in early stage opportunities. We typically lead or co-lead our investments and request a seat on the board of directors.
